Motocross legend, X Games gold
medalist, NASCAR racer and Chevy Sonic
fan Ricky Carmichael first introduced his
All-Activity Sonic concept at the 2011
SEMA Show. But for 2013, he
took it up a notch with the help
of Chevrolet Performance.
“The original All-Activity
Sonic was a fun concept that
allowed me to pursue my
passions for cycling and
Carmichael. “Now, we’ve
stepped it up with a Chevrolet
Performance package that takes it to the
next level on the road, and I love it.”
Chevrolet Performance upgrades fitted
to the All-Activity Sonic include a 1.4-liter
Turbo Stage Kit with high-flow exhaust,
cold-air induction, suspension kit with
lowered ride height, brake package with
Wilwood front calipers and an 18in. wheel
and tire package featuring custom gloss
black finish with lime green lip.
The exterior is painted satin black
that’s pearlized with blue, along with
custom graphics. The Sonic’s body is
accented with a concept
rear-wing spoiler, smoked lamp
package and a unique grille.
The THULE roof rack locks and
loads Carmichael’s mountain
bike and wakeboard, no sweat.
Inside, FOX Racing
boardshort material is used on
the seat inserts, complementing the dark
green and black leather instrument panel
trim and door trim with lime green piping.
A matching, green/black-trimmed
flat-bottom steering wheel continues the
theme, and an upgraded sound system, a
Chevrolet Accessories pedal kit and a
custom aluminum shift knob complete a
concept that Carmichael describes as “a
package that’s as cool as it is functional.”

A satin exterior lends an all-business
appearance to the car, complemented with
graphics of Gordon’s No. 24 race number,
custom-finished 20in. wheels and a carbon
fiber rear spoiler and custom front grille.
With lowered suspension, high-performance brakes and a Borla
performance exhaust system, the changes
go deep, and under the hood beats the
small-block heart of all SS production
models, the 6.2-liter LS3 V8. Its 415hp
and 415lb.ft of torque is delivered to the
rear wheels via a six-speed automatic
transmission with TAPShift.
In the cabin, the SS features perforated
suede seat inserts, embroidered headrests,
a racing-style flat-bottom steering wheel
and a Chevrolet Accessories pedal kit.
