“It’s definitely a conversation piece, and
it’s amazing to discover how many people

a way to bring back my youth, but it’s also

and, as always, to be really competitive.”

Bobby Rahal is a slot head, and we mean
that in the most affectionate terms. Along
with his collection of racing memorabilia
and racecars at Autobahn Country Club
in Joliet, Ill., is a Slot Mods USA recreation
of Road America, circa 1963.
Rahal had a Scalextric set as a boy
which, along with accompanying his father
to Road America, is among his early
memories of a life in racing. Later, when real
cars beckoned, the slot cars were put aside.
