pushed directly on to the wheels,
increasing grip and corner speeds.

The twin-chassis Lotus 88 made
its debut in 1981, but was never
allowed to race. Might it have been
the ultimate ground-effect F1 car?

The inner chassis - the carbon fiber
monococque and drivetrain – could
be relatively softly sprung, having no
aero loads acting directly upon it.
