Born in Virginia in 1949 and brought up
on his family farm, Rick Hendrick’s first
brush with racing was as a teen drag
racer. In 1976, he became the youngest
Chevrolet dealer in America. Now,
Charlotte-based Hendrick Automotive
Group operates 102 dealerships in 14
states, with more than 10,000 employees.
Renowned as a NASCAR team owner,
Hendrick also drove in two Sprint Cup
road course races – Riverside in 1987
and ’ 88, with a best finish of 15th.
