Rarely have praise and criticism been
so frequently applied to an F1 newcomer
as with Red Bull’s latest sensation, Max
Verstappen. In Belgium, the teenager’s
combative style again rubbed Ferrari’s
Kimi Raikkonen the wrong way, and this
time also roped in his fellow world
champion teammate, Sebastian Vettel.
Verstappen sustained damage to his
Red Bull as he tangled with the Ferraris
at the La Source hairpin. The Finn was
even more unhappy with a later
defensive move by the Dutchman.
Verstappen insisted he’d been the
victim, not instigator, at the first corner.
“First of all Kimi started to squeeze me,
but we are not touching each other; then
F1’s latest and greatest, Max Verstappen,
takes on both sides of Ferrari’s superteam
and, as always, has no regrets afterward Raikkonen, “but they destroyed my race, so it’s not like I say you can take my

Raikkonen bristled further at the
